The Boland team was invited to participate in the 2007 Lake Malawi International. They came home victorious having won the competition. The team members are from left to right:

National Artlure Championships

Hennie Lowe and Francois Claassen represent Boland at the National Artlure Championships which was held in Durban on 1 March 2007. On their arrival they were greeted by the Durban humidity and tropical weather and was taken to Albert Falls.

Unfortunately they had only one practice day to prepare for the competition. The conditions was very tough with the temperature going up over 40 degrees, but this could not dampen their spirits.

The first day of the competition was tough and they struggled to get all the species. They only managed 8 fish (four different species x 2). On this day the sun came down with all its fury and Francois actually said that when he was wading for carp, the water was burning him. This, combined with a dethwell we had on the boat, was a very hard days fishing.

The last day was much better as Francois and Hennie learned a lot over the last couple of days and managed 11 fish. Boland pleased 8th.

The experience that Hennie and Francois gained of the dam and its patterns, are going to mean a lot when they fish SA Champs in 2009.

Thanks to Natal for the hospitality, Boland enjoyed it immensely!
